Thornton Fractional United boys’ volleyball team overcame a narrow first-set loss to defeat Lemont in a three-set South Suburban Conference match on May 1.
After losing the opening set 29-27, TF United rallied to win the next two sets 25-21 and 25-22. This victory improved their conference record to 4-4 and their overall record to 12-13. According to reports, Lemont began the match strongly, holding off multiple set points from TF United in an extended battle. Despite this early setback, TF United responded with consistent serving and aggressive net play to even the match in the second set.
The third set remained competitive throughout, but TF United capitalized on late errors by Lemont and secured the win with a strong finish. “It was a great team effort,” said the T.F. United head coach. “We showed resilience after that first set and kept our composure. The boys didn’t give up.”
TF United continues its regular season as it seeks to gain momentum heading into the postseason. The victory marked a crucial bounce-back for the squad, which has shown flashes of high-level play throughout the season.
