T.F. South High School’s girls’ badminton coach, Dynecia Dixon, is preparing for the upcoming season with a focus on guiding her team to achieve new milestones. Despite initially having limited experience with badminton, Dixon quickly established a connection with her athletes and drew inspiration from their dedication.
“I didn’t know much about badminton when I first started coaching, but the girls’ commitment made me want to stick with it,” Dixon said. “Their passion for the sport and the team is what keeps me coming back.”
According to Dixon, she is eager to see how far the team can push themselves this season. She believes they have the potential to grow and compete at a higher level. “I’m excited to see the girls improve and challenge themselves,” she said. “We have a lot of talent, and I want to see that translate into success on the court.”
Dixon emphasizes teamwork and accountability as key components of her coaching philosophy. Watching her athletes support one another and develop their skills motivates her. “For me, it’s about seeing the girls hold each other accountable and grow as individuals and teammates,” she said. “They make it easy to coach because they genuinely care about getting better.”
To prepare for the season, Dixon is focusing on skill-building drills and scheduling matches against stronger opponents. She believes tougher competition will help sharpen the team’s abilities.
Key players to watch include Daisy Sulto and Aziri Akbar, who have shown steady improvement. Dixon also expects younger athletes to contribute to the team’s success.
Beyond badminton, she hopes to instill valuable life lessons in her players. “The biggest lesson is to always do your best,” Dixon said. “Focus on growth, the next game, and every opportunity to improve.”
With Dixon’s leadership, T.F. South’s badminton team is ready for a competitive season ahead.
