After multiple weather-related cancellations, the Thornton Fractional South girls’ track team commenced its outdoor season on Saturday, April 13, at a 14-team invitational hosted by Stagg High School.
According to the results of the event, the Red Wolves finished in fourth place overall, earning 50.5 points. Senior Jordyn Clark led the team with a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash. She also secured third place in the long jump and contributed to two relay teams, helping the 4×100-meter relay finish third and the 4×200-meter relay take fourth.
Teammate Zenada Henderson also participated in both relays, placing third in the 4×100 and fourth in the 4×200. Nyrobi Moore rounded out the standout performances by contributing to the 4×100 relay’s third-place result and helping the 4×400 team secure fourth.
“We finally got in an outdoor meet after several cancellations due to weather,” head coach Elissa Belli said. “The girls performed well. It was a good starting point, and we’re looking forward to seeing how we can improve on these results.”
Thornton Fractional South will host its next meet on Monday, April 14, facing Oak Forest and Oak Lawn in a triangular meet on its home track.
