Thornton Fractional United boys tennis secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Thornwood on Monday, April 14, in a match that came down to the wire.
“It was a nice day for tennis,” said head coach Matthew Jancich, whose team earned the win thanks to a dramatic third-set tiebreaker at third doubles. Julian Hernandez and Rolando Hernandez clinched the deciding point, battling through a tight final set to push TF United over the top.
The team’s first two points came from dominant singles play. Ife Fashoranti cruised to victory at first singles, while Gabe Morales followed with a strong performance at second singles, giving the team early momentum in the match.
“Thornwood is always a tough match for us, and it went our way today,” Jancich said. The win reflects the team’s growing confidence and ability to perform under pressure as the season progresses.
With this victory, TF United continues building its record and gaining experience in high-stakes matches. The close contest with conference rival Thornwood demonstrated both the team’s depth and determination, especially in doubles play.
TF United will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming matches as they push for a strong finish to the season.
