Thornton Fractional South senior Malik Green has embarked on an unconventional journey into the world of bowling, having discovered the sport later than most. Despite this, he has rapidly developed a strong commitment to enhancing his skills.
“I started bowling on a whim in eighth grade,” Green said. “My dad did it, and I always thought he looked cool doing it,” said Green, Senior Bowler. “He invested a lot of time and money,” Green said. “He doesn’t want me to have too little to do my best, so he always does everything. I thank him for that. In bowling you need to stay calm,” he said. “When I start doing bad, I struggle mentally, but now I’m learning how to relax and stay myself. I want to do better than last year,” Green said. “Get more medals and prepare myself for college.”
According to Green, once he made the decision to pursue bowling seriously, his father emerged as a significant source of support. This season has presented various challenges for Green, particularly in terms of mental resilience. He identified maintaining a positive mindset as his most significant obstacle.
Green’s aspirations encompass both team and individual achievements. He expressed hope to return to sectionals with more teammates and continue building toward future success.
