The Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves dropped a tight boys varsity basketball conference matchup to the Bremen Braves, falling 61–59.
The loss came on Feb. 12, at Bremen High School.
The Red Wolves opened strong, racing to an 18–12 lead after the first quarter and carrying a five‑point advantage into halftime. Bremen responded after the break, clamping down defensively and limiting T.F. South to just four points in the third quarter. That swing shifted momentum, but the Red Wolves refused to fold. They answered with a 20‑point surge in the fourth quarter, dramatically forcing overtime.
In the extra session, T.F. South managed seven points, but Bremen countered with nine to edge out the two‑point victory. The Red Wolves showed resilience throughout, battling back from a cold stretch and nearly pulling off the road win. Despite the loss, the contest underscored their ability to respond under pressure and generate late‑game offense.
Up next, T.F. South will return home to host Hansberry in a non‑conference matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
The meeting marks the first scheduled clash between the two programs this season, allowing the Red Wolves to regroup and reset against a fresh opponent.
