Despite a challenging game against the experienced Lemont team, the Thornton Fractional South Red Wolves displayed potential in their 16-1 loss on Tuesday, which concluded early due to the mercy rule.

According to reports, T.F. South entered the match with a 3-4 record, aiming to build on their recent victory over Hancock. Although Lemont dominated the final score, South’s young players demonstrated determination and signs of development as they continue to find their footing.

Sophomore Juan Lozano delivered a commendable performance on the mound during the third inning by holding Lemont scoreless and providing motivation for the Red Wolves. Junior Chris Rodriguez contributed with a stolen base and scored the team’s only run, reflecting their aggressive approach on the bases.

“We’ve got a bunch of young guys who have to find a voice,” said head coach Amir Wright. “It’s early. These are mental errors — things we can control. We’ll grow through this.”

With only eight games played so far, Wright expressed confidence that T.F. South’s best performances are yet to come as they work towards establishing their identity. The Red Wolves are set to return to action later this week, hoping to convert lessons learned into positive momentum.
