The Thornton Fractional South boys basketball team came up just short in a competitive conference matchup, falling 55-49 to Oak Forest in a game that stayed within one or two possessions throughout the second half.
According to the game report, the Red Wolves matched the Bengals’ physical play and maintained pressure on both ends of the floor. Thornton Fractional South (TFS) stayed within striking distance by controlling rebounds and generating extra possessions, finishing with 28 defensive rebounds and nine offensive boards. O. Cross Jr. led TFS with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while I. Whitehead added eight points and four rebounds. Amari Dukes contributed nine points and four steals.
Defensively, TFS recorded 10 steals and five blocks, disrupting Oak Forest’s rhythm. Tim Adenrele anchored the interior defense with five rebounds and three blocks, while Adonte Hamilton and Nathan Weathers controlled the perimeter with active hands. TFS also went 14-for-19 from the free-throw line.
Looking ahead, Thornton Fractional South will host Thornton Fractional North on February 10 at 6:30 p.m. The last encounter between these teams resulted in a narrow 56-54 loss for the Red Wolves at Thornton Fractional North on February 11.
