Thornton Fractional South’s boys’ volleyball team achieved a comeback victory on Thursday night, defeating Lemont 2-1 in a home match that highlighted the Red Wolves’ development and determination as they look towards the postseason.

According to recent performance records, the Red Wolves (6-10, 3-4) were coming off a win against Evergreen Park, which boosted their confidence. On the other hand, Lemont (9-16, 3-4) was attempting to recover from a loss to Providence Catholic. Despite losing the first set 29-27 in a close contest, T.F. South maintained their resolve.

“We play as hard as we can, and we trust each other,” head coach Mark Misch said. “Our defense tonight was the best it’s been all year.”

Junior Eartis Booth and senior Rodrigo Cortez led a strong response in the second set for T.F. South, winning it 25-21. Misch noted that Booth’s serving and composure were crucial in turning around a 19-16 deficit during the third set to secure a 25-22 victory.

“We’ve been in this spot before,” Misch said. “This time we finished strong.”

With upcoming matches against conference opponents Richards, Bremen, and Eisenhower, T.F. South aims to finish strongly and compete for the division lead.

“Our goal is to win out,” Misch said. “And we believe we can do it.” The Red Wolves are building momentum and establishing themselves as formidable competitors as they approach the season’s conclusion.
