Thornton Fractional South’s Red Wolves secured a 4-1 victory over Hillcrest of Country Club Hills on Wednesday, demonstrating their strength in both singles and doubles play.
In singles competition, the Red Wolves split the matches at the top two spots. Hillcrest’s Jamiya Hill achieved her team’s only win with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ava Nunez from the Red Wolves at No. 1 singles. However, Sabrina Rodriguez of the Red Wolves responded by defeating Sasha Sledge of Hillcrest 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
The doubles matches were pivotal for Thornton Fractional South. At No. 1 doubles, Ivory Carter and Anylah Brown defeated Hillcrest’s Arianna Roule and Aubrey Bohannon with a score of 6-2, 6-4. Hailey Matlock and Liz Carla Ndamou from the Red Wolves dominated at No. 2 doubles with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win over Kira Kinney and Amanda Martinez. The team sealed their overall victory at No. 3 doubles when Kaylee Cannon and Olivia Hall won by default with a score of 2-0, 2-0.
The coach of the Red Wolves praised the players’ focus, teamwork, and consistent execution on the court.
