Thornton Fractional United’s boys tennis team achieved a narrow 3-2 victory over Thornwood High School on April 14 at TF South, bringing their season record to an even 3-3.

According to head coach Matt Jancich, the TF United squad demonstrated resilience and consistency on the court, with notable performances in both singles and doubles play. The team’s ability to return shots more reliably than their opponents was pivotal in determining the match outcome.

Senior Ife Fashoranti led in No. 1 singles, securing a win through steady volleys and strategic shot placement. Gabe Morales contributed with a strong performance at No. 2 singles, adding another point for TF United.

In doubles play, brothers Julian and Rolando Hernandez delivered a decisive win at No. 3 doubles, clinching the overall match for TF United with well-timed serves and effective communication.

“We’re really focused on consistency,” Jancich said. “The more balls we return, the more pressure we put on the other team to make mistakes.”

TF United is set to face Argo High School on April 15, aiming to improve their record above .500 in what promises to be another competitive matchup.
