The Thornton Fractional South boys’ cross country team celebrated its seniors with a strong performance during a dual meet on September 16 at Erfert Park.
The Running Red Wolves honored four senior girls and five senior boys in a post-race ceremony attended by family members. The event also highlighted several personal records achieved by the athletes. Junior Ricky Budlove led the team, securing first place with a personal best time of 17 minutes and 27 seconds. Sophomore Alonzo Magana followed closely in second place, also achieving a personal record with a time of 17:37.
Senior John Carson finished third with a time of 18:15, narrowly surpassing his teammate and fellow senior Jayden Ruiz, who placed fourth at 18:16. Junior Antwon Love claimed fifth place with a personal record of 18:26.
Other notable performances from the Red Wolves included junior Princeton Harb finishing sixth at 18:27, senior Xavier Ruiz placing seventh with a personal record of 18:35, and junior Evan Krueger taking eighth place with another personal best of 18:50. Senior Josue Delgado also achieved a personal best, clocking in at 19:01 for ninth place.
Thornton Fractional South secured the team victory with an impressive score of 15 points, while Chicago Intrinsic concluded the meet with 50 points. The Red Wolves are set to compete again on Saturday, September 20, at the Julian Urbina Invitational.
