Thornton Fractional United and Reavis concluded their South Suburban Conference soccer match with a 2-2 draw on Saturday.
Forward Maximilliano Montesinos and midfielder Angel Delgado each scored for the Meteors. The team now holds a record of 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in league play. Montesinos initiated the scoring midway through the first half, netting from inside the box following a defensive error by Reavis. Shortly after, Reavis responded with a goal to level the score at 1-1.
Delgado restored TF United’s lead early in the second half by finishing off a pass from midfield with a strike past the goalkeeper. However, Reavis managed to equalize late in the game, taking advantage of a set piece opportunity.
Goalkeeper Ismael Sanchez played a crucial role for the Meteors, making four saves, including a diving stop in the final minutes that secured the draw. The head coach expressed satisfaction with the team’s energy but noted areas for improvement: “We played with good energy, but we need to close games out,” he said. “I’m proud of the fight, but we’ll learn from this.”
Thornton Fractional United is scheduled to face conference rival Oak Lawn Spartans on Tuesday.
