Thornton Fractional South’s softball team showed determination and toughness in a pair of road matchups this week, narrowly falling 5-4 in extra innings to Bremen on April 8 before a 14-0 loss at Shepard on April 10.
The Red Wolves went toe-to-toe with Bremen in a tightly contested battle, tying the game in the seventh on a clutch double from Morgan Kleidon. T.F. South racked up eight hits and delivered one of its sharpest defensive efforts of the season.
“Played our best defensive game and had very good at-bats,” head coach Dave Klupchak said.
Despite the outcome, the Red Wolves proved they could compete with anyone, showing poise and grit through all eight innings.
At Shepard, T.F. South again tallied eight hits, but struggled to convert opportunities into runs. Senior Izzy Sprehe stood out, going 2-for-3 with a double as the Red Wolves continued to find success at the plate.
T.F. South remains optimistic as they aim to turn strong individual performances into a win.
The Red Wolves return home looking to bounce back against Romeoville on April 11.
